Coast Road Film Festival

Inspired by beautiful films made by various Coast Road resident artists, this unique festival created by and for our community has grown from a handful of friends in 2014 to 100 guests in recent years! We show 8-10 or so short films, including animation, abstract, documentary, music, comedic, adventure, and international films made by people aged 7 to 90+.

To have a look at some films from previous festivals, visit the CRFF YouTube channel and click View Full Playlist for the year.

Festival mission statement:

The mission of the Coast Road Film Festival is to build a sense of community around the art of film and visual storytelling. It is to encourage experimentation and development of film making skills and to convey a story that you feel is meaningful and relevant.

Film Submission guidelines:

These guidelines are just that; something to start with, and not meant to constrain the artistic process!

- Films in general should be 5 min or less, suitable for all ages and made in the last few years. Films longer than 5 minutes are considered and will be juried.

- ‘Slide shows’ are generally not accepted.

- You’re welcome to submit more than one film to the festival.

- Please contact us in advance at coastroadfilms@gmail.com if you’re unsure about your film, or to discuss possible exceptions. We may accept a somewhat longer film, for example, if it is well done and fits with the film festival.

- If you need some guidance or mentoring with the film-making process or with solidifying your ideas, feel free to contact us.

- Please submit your finished film for the 2025 festival by August 30, 2025. This gives us time to gather films and build the flow of the lineup. You can also submit a work in progress and we can discuss a final submission date if you need more time.

- Please upload films for consideration to Vimeo, YouTube or other video streaming site, or put them on a USB drive that has been scanned for viruses. Use the digital media formats MOV or MP4.
